How To Generate Cancellation Invoices
Topics covered in this tutorial: In this tutorial I'm going to show you how to set up and generate cancellation invoices. Cancellation invoices allow you to invoice clients a cancellation fee if their bookings are cancelled at short notice. So first of all we need to set up cancellation options, and we do this by going to MIDAS Admin Options, and selecting "Manage MIDAS" from the drop-down, and we need to be on the invoicing tab, and you'll see there's a cancellation invoices section here. So to enable it, we tick this box here "Generate cancellation invoices for bookings that are cancelled less than one day's" currently set. We can also reduce this to hours, but we'll keep this as one day. So any bookings that are deleted less than one day before they're due to commence, will have a cancellation invoice generated for them. And we can either charge a fixed fee for cancelling at short notice, or we can charge a percentage of the original cost of hire. So for this example we're going to stick with a fixed charge of $100, so we click "Save Changes", and we'll go back to our booking grid. Now as you can see I've got a booking here for John Smith at 6:00 p.m. this evening. And you can see from the red line here it's currently just after half four, so they're less than the day to go before this booking is due to take place. So I'm now going to cancel it by clicking it and going "Delete Booking". I'm asked for confirmation, and there's also a box which I can tick which will send a cancellation notification to the client as well if we wish. I'm just going to click "Yes" on this, and you see the booking has been deleted and a cancellation invoice has been created which I can click. And there you'll see a cancellation invoice has automatically been generated. Thanks for watching and be sure to check out some of our other video tutorials online.Tutorial Video Transcript
