I'm seeing an error that "There was a problem connecting to the specified SMTP server"

This error indicates that the SMTP server settings that have been specified within the software are incorrect, or that your SMTP server is rejecting external connections to it, and therefore your MIDAS is unable able to connect to your SMTP server to send any outgoing email. You can check/correct your mail transport settings via MIDAS Admin Options → Manage MIDAS → email → Send Outgoing Emails Using.

Once you have entered the correct SMTP settings for your server, this error should be resolved. If not, it is then likely to be a firewall issue with your own SMTP server not allowing external connections from the server upon which your MIDAS resides.

If you are unsure of your correct SMTP/Firewall settings, you will need to contact your organization's network administrator for assistance.
