How to fix "Unauthenticated email is not accepted" errors

If when sending email through your MIDAS booking system, the email is returned to you with a "Unauthenticated email is not accepted" failure, then you'll need to adjust your email settings in MIDAS.

An example of such an error may be:

SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data:
550-5.7.26 Unauthenticated email from yahoo.com is not accepted due to domain's DMARC policy.

This error may be caused when your MIDAS system is currently configured to, either:

  1. Send email via "Sendmail", or;
  2. Send via SMTP, but without a username/password being entered

The failure essentially means you tried to send an email without any form of authentication, and it was subsequently rejected by your email provider.

You can check and adjust your MIDAS system's email settings when logged in, via MIDAS Admin Options → Manage MIDAS → Email.

If the "Send outgoing email using" option is currently set to "Sendmail", change this to "SMTP", and enter your SMTP mail server's details instead.

If the "Send outgoing email using" option is already set to "SMTP", but the SMTP Username and Password fields are empty, please enter the necessary credentials for your SMTP server.
