Can I access my MIDAS booking system from home?

In today's post COVID-19 pandemic world, Remote Working and Hybrid Working have become popular alternatives to traditional working.

If you normally access your MIDAS system via a domain name which ends in ".mid.as" (for example https://your-company.mid.as) then your organization has a cloud hosted MIDAS booking system.

Cloud hosted editions of our MIDAS software may be accessed from anywhere in the world, provided that you have a device with a modern web browser and an appropriate internet connection.

If your MIDAS system is "self hosted" by you or your own company or hosting provider, then where you can access it from will depend on where and how MIDAS has been installed.

If your self-hosted MIDAS system has been installed on a web server that's externally reachable via the internet, then, similar to a cloud hosted edition of our software, you should be able to access it from anywhere with an internet connection.

However, if MIDAS has been installed internally within your company's network or local intranet, then it's likely that this will only be accessible from other computers or devices connected to the same network. You may therefore be unable to access your MIDAS booking system externally (i.e. from home).

An common indication that your MIDAS system has been installed within a local intranet environment is if the URL you access to your MIDAS system isn't a "Fully Qualified Domain Name" - for example: https://server01/midas

If you're considering running a self hosted edition of MIDAS and are not sure whether it'll be externally accessible, then please check with your network, IT, or systems administrator.

Alternatively, you could consider our cloud hosted option instead to ensure that you'll be able to access your booking system remotely if you're not in the office.
