MIDAS v4.42 introduces a new advanced print option that allows bookings to be printed for specific days of the week within a selected date range.

The “Print” icon in the MIDAS toolbar allows for quick printing of bookings shown in the current booking grid.

Right-clicking (or long-pressing on touch devices) this icon opens an advanced print dialog.

Advanced booking print settings dialog in MIDAS v4.42

From this dialog, you can customize the booking printout in a number of ways:

Change the layout

Set the date range

Restrict to certain times

Restrict to certain rooms

Restrict to certain booking types

Filter bookings based on advanced criteria

We’ve improved the date range customization section in MIDAS v4.42 to now also allow selection of specific days of the week across the selected date range.

Option to restrict printing of bookings over a date range to certain days of the week

Previously, selecting a date range would simply include bookings for each and every day in the range. Now you can limit this to only include bookings on certain days of the week.

For instance, if you’re only interested in printing bookings that take place on Saturdays and Sundays over the next three months, you can now do so.

This makes it easier to generate focused and concise booking printouts without unnecessary information.

Dates with notes associated with them are also indicated on the Booking Availability screen where they can be quickly viewed before new bookings are added.

MIDAS v4.37 introduces a new setting which now also allows you to include date notes on your booking print outs.

In previous blog posts we’ve covered a number of new features coming in MIDAS v4.27. These include quickly selecting common date ranges, printing individual bookings, and auto-approve improvements for booking requests.

In this post we’ll brief touch on some of the other new features we’re introducing in v4.27.

Search results can now be easily printed

The “Print” icon in the MIDAS toolbar is really flexible! When viewing the Booking Grid, clicking the Print icon allows you to print bookings for the currently viewed date (or date range).

Furthermore, right-clicking the Print icon show advance print options allowing you to further customize booking print outs.

But that’s not all, the Print icon also allows printing in other areas of MIDAS. For example, when viewing reports/statistics, the Print icon will print the current report.

For v4.27 we’ve further extended the Print icon’s functionality in relation to search results.

When performing a search (via the “Search” toolbar icon), the Print icon can now be used to send the search results to your printer.

The Recent Activity audit log can now be exported to Excel

The “Recent Activity” feature in MIDAS allows administrators to view an audit log of all recent user activity within your booking system. This includes log ins and outs as well as bookings added, modified, and deleted.

Each entry in the Recent Activity log is timestamped with the user who performed each action, as well as their IP address.

This allows a full audit trail to be maintained for actions taking place in your MIDAS system.

For v4.27, we’ve added an “Export” button to the Recent Activity log. This allows you to easily export the log to Excel.

Exported client data now includes current credit and tax exempt status

Whilst we’re on the subject of exporting data from your MIDAS system; Exporting client data (MIDAS Admin Options → Export → Clients) in v4.27+ will now also include each client’s current credit and tax exempt status.

Note: This information will only be included in exported client data if the user performing the export has been granted the “Can use invoicing” permission.

Improved booking import support

As you may be aware, MIDAS allows you to import bookings from 3rd party software.

When importing bookings, MIDAS needs to know the date format used in the data you’re importing.

Every 3rd party application stores/exports dates differently, and so we strive to support as many different date formats as possible.

Currently supported import date formats are:

DD.MM.YYYY (Example: 23/07/2021)

DD.MM.YY (Example: 23/07/21)

MM.DD.YYYY (Example: 07/23/2021)

MM.DD.YY (Example: 07/23/21)

YYYY.MM.DD (Example: 2021/07/23)

YYYY.DD.MM (Example: 2021/23/07)

YY.MM.DD (Example: 21/23/07)

YY.DD.MM (Example: 21/07/23)

DD.MM.YYYY HH.MI (Example: 23/07/2021 16:30)

MM.DD.YYYY HH.MI (Example: 07/23/2021 16:30)

HH.MI.SS – Day DD Month YYYY (Example: 16:30:00 – Friday 23 July 2021)

HH.MI-HH:MI, Day DD Month YYYY (Example: 16:30-17:30, Friday 23 July 2021)

Day DD Month YYYY HH.MI – Day DD Month YYYY HH.MI (Example: Friday 23 July 2021 16:30 – Friday 23 July 2021 17:30)

For MIDAS v4.27, we’re adding support for a couple more date formats:

DD.Mon.YYYY (Example: 23-Jul-2021)

DD.Mon.YY (Example: 23-Jul-21)

This extensive range of supported date formats for your raw booking data should cover the formats used by most 3rd party applications.

If you have booking data that you wish to import that doesn’t conform to one of the above date formats, please let us know and we’ll try and add support in a future update.

Advanced filter improvements

When advanced printing or when generating invoices, MIDAS offers an advanced “filter” option. This allows you to include/exclude bookings from your printout/generated invoice(s).

For v4.27 we’ve imported these advanced filters to now allow blank (empty) search terms.

This improvement now allows you to include/exclude bookings where a certain booking field is blank, which previously you couldn’t do.

We’ve also further improved the advanced print filter to allow filtering of bookings by invoice.

This allows you to now generate a printout of bookings which match, partially match, or don’t match a particular invoice number.

Custom logo improvements for cloud hosted customers

MIDAS allows you to “co brand” the software by uploading your own logo. This logo then appears throughout the software. For example, it is included on the login screen for your MIDAS system. It can also then be included in various templates in MIDAS – including email and invoicing templates.

Your logo may be added/changed via MIDAS Admin Options → Manage MIDAS → Appearance → Logo.

Our cloud hosted customers may notice that when changing their logo, the changes are not immediately visible. This is due to the way our network “caches” static content, like logos. Sometimes it can take up to 24 hours to a logo change to be visible.

We’re improving this for MIDAS v4.27. Now, when our cloud hosted customers change their logo, their new logo should be visible right away!

How To Get MIDAS v4.27…

Many of our users require the ability to be able to print out bookings from their MIDAS system. Perhaps they have staff or volunteers who don’t have access the a computer, and therefore need a “paper copy” of bookings.

There are a number of ways this is facilitated in MIDAS.

Firstly, you can quickly print bookings for the currently viewed date (or date range) in the booking grid. This is achieved by simply clicking the “Print” icon in the MIDAS toolbar.

Furthermore, you can also right-click this icon to generate more advanced printouts.

MIDAS also allows you to print any individual client’s past or future bookings, or those over a specific date range.

We know that these extensive print capabilities within our software are extremely valuable to our users. However, until now there hasn’t been an easy way to print details of just a single individual booking.

Printing a single booking

This has been an often requested feature on our Feature Requests page. We’re therefore delighted to be able to introduce this for MIDAS v4.27.

Users who have been granted the “Can print” user permission, will notice the addition of a small print icon in the upper right of the Booking Information Panel:

Print the currently selected tab in the Booking Information Panel

This icon will be present whenever the Booking Information Panel has been set to retain its information. The Booking Information Panel is populated when you “hover” your mouse over a booking in the booking grid. Now, normally, this information then disappears from the Panel when you move away from a booking. However, the small small “Pin” icon in the top-right corner of the Panel retains this last selected booking’s details. When set to retain information, the new Print icon will be displayed.

When this new small print icon is clicked, a window will open displaying all the information shown in the currently selected tab of the Booking Information Panel. This information is displayed in a printer-friendly format, and your browser’s native print dialog will then be shown.

So, if the “Booking” tab is currently selected, you’ll be able to print out all the information for the displayed booking.

When the “History” tab is selected, you’ll be able to print the full edit history for the displayed booking.

And, of course, if the “Client” tab is selected, you’ll be able to print detailed client information for the displayed client.

How To Get MIDAS v4.27…

MIDAS v4.27 isn’t yet publicly available. It is expected to be made available to Beta Testers soon, with a full public release shortly after. In the meantime, why not check out some of the new features that were included in v4.26 ?

We’re adding a couple of cool new features to the print functionality in MIDAS for the next release of our web based room booking and resource scheduling software, v4.16.

New Advanced Print Filter

MIDAS already features a wealth of advanced print options. These may be accessed by right/long clicking the “Print” toolbar icon. They include the ability to print bookings over a custom date range and limit printouts of bookings to only include those taking place in certain venues or which are of specific booking types.

For v4.16, we’re adding an additional “Advanced Filter”:

This will allow you to only include bookings within your printout that match (or not) the value of certain fields. You can also match against any custom booking fields you’ve set up. You’ll be able to select a booking field from a drop-down list, select a match type, and a match string.

Match types available include:

Equals – Will include bookings where the selected booking field’s value exactly matches the string you enter

Does Not Equal – Will include bookings where the selected booking field’s value doesn’t exactly matches the string you enter

Contains – Will include bookings where the selected booking field’s value contains an occurrence of the string you enter

Does Not Contain – Will include bookings where the selected booking field’s value contains no occurrences of the string you enter

Begins With – Will include bookings where the selected booking field’s value begins with the string you enter

Ends With – Will include bookings where the selected booking field’s value ends with the string you enter

Is Greater Than – Will include bookings where the selected booking field’s numeric value is higher than the value you enter

Is Less Than – Will include bookings where the selected booking field’s numeric value is higher than the value you enter

So, for example, you could generate a printout which only includes booking where there are more than 10 people attending. Or you could generate a printout which excludes any bookings that have “exclude from printing” in their booking notes, etc.

A “Case Sensitive” option is also available allowing you to optionally make string matches case-sensitive.

But that’s not all….

Limit Resource Category When Printing Bookings With Resources In “Grid” Layouts

The Advanced Print settings window in MIDAS allows you to choose between two different print layouts – a “table” layout and a “grid” layout.

If “grid” layout is selected, bookings are printed in a “grid”, with venues listed vertically, and each date shown across the horizontal axis. You can further specify a field you’d like to be shown within each grid cell. For instance, selecting “Booking Types” would create a printout indicating the types of bookings taking place in your venues over the selected date range.

The ability to select “Resources” as the field to show on these printouts has long been available. However, for v4.16 we’ve also introduced “Resources (Equipment)”, “Resources (Consumables)” and “Resources (Staffing)” options, allowing you to further drill-down the resources on your print-outs.

These new options provide a some great new possibilities! For example, selecting a “Resources (Staffing)” grid printout, will generate a printout of which venues, dates, and times your staff are assigned to.

Work on our next update to MIDAS, v3.14 is nearing completion, so we thought we’d take this opportunity to tell you about a couple of the new features in this forthcoming update…

The biggest area that’s been updated in this release is the “My Messages” module.
Starting with version 3.14 you’ll be able to:

Receive notifications when consumables are low

The person(s) responsible for purchasing consumables can be informed when they need to re-order!

Low consumable notifications

Receive notifications when specific resources are added to bookings

For example, catering staff can be automatically notified when refreshments are required!

Greater control over watch “triggers”

The addition of AND/OR logic allows greater control over what triggers your watch notification. For instance you can set up a watch to notify you when either a new booking is added to a particular room OR a new booking of a particular type is added. Alternatively, you can set up the watch to notify you when a new booking is added to a particular room AND is a particular type, and so forth

AND/OR logic providing greater control over notification triggers

Automatically forward notifications and messages to your email

You can have watch notifications and internal messages from other users automatically forwarded to your email address. This means that you don’t need to log in to MIDAS to check for new messages!

Suppress notifications window when you log in

You can disable the “My Messages” pop-up which displays after you login whenever you have messages, reminders, or watches.

Notification Settings

Also, in v3.14 we’ve extended the “Statistics” module to now include a section for “Invoice Statistics“. In this section you’ll be able to select a date range, and MIDAS will show you statistics of all invoices sent during that period. You’ll be able to see how much has been invoiced, how much has been paid, and how much is still outstanding! …and you can breakdown these statistics by client, organization, or booking type!

Invoice Statistics

You can now also Print Statistics to your printer via the main print icon!
