Data Feeds Addon Data Feed Types

The "Data Feeds" addon is capable of generating a variety of different data feeds from your calendar bookings. These include:

  • iCal Feeds
  • RSS Feeds
  • Google Calendar Feeds

iCal Feeds

An iCal (or "webcal") feed is a URL which begins webcal://. When a user clicks a "webcal://" link, their browser will open their default calendar application (for example, Outlook) and offer the option to subscribe to the data feed.

An iCal feed generated by the optional Data Feeds addon for MIDAS will generate a feed of upcoming bookings for use with compatible calendar applications which allow subscribing to iCal feeds.

RSS Feeds

RSS (often dubbed "Really Simple Syndication", but officially "Rich Site Summary") is a common web feed format for delivering regularly changing news/data to many users in a standardized format. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.

An RSS feed generated by the optional Data Feeds addon for MIDAS will generate a feed of upcoming bookings for use with RSS compatible readers/aggregators.

Google Calendar Feeds

Similar to the iCal feed described above, the Google Calendar Feed is a specific link which may be shared with others which when clicked will in turn will open Google Calendar and prompt the user to subscribe to the calendar feed.
