Fix "An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket"

A "500 select failed: An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket" error during the install of a self-hosted MIDAS room booking system may be caused by a number of issues within your Windows server environment. These include:
  1. A WinSock issue on your server.
  2. You're installing MIDAS in a Virtual Machine environment where networking (or virtual networking) has been incorrectly setup, or has been recently changed.
In relation to the first potential cause, you may be able to fix your WinSock issue by simply issuing a "netsh winsock reset" command from a Windows cmd (command) prompt, and then restarting your Windows server.

In the case of the second possible cause, please check your Virtual Machine's networking configuration to ensure that the MIDAS software installer can establish an external Internet connection.
