Why do customers see "Invoice Not Found" whilst trying to pay invoices online?
MIDAS booking systems can be configured to allow customers to securely pay their invoices online. If set up and enabled, customers may pay the invoices generated by your booking system via https://<your-midas-domain>/pay.
When your customer accesses this URL to pay their invoice, they'll be prompted to enter their invoice number and the date of their invoice.
Depending on how you've configured online payments, the customer may also be prompted to enter their invoice.
MIDAS will then validate the information entered, and if it's valid, will display the corresponding invoice and allow the customer to make a secure online payment against is.
If the customer's invoice is not displays and instead they receive an "Invoice Not Found" message, then it's likely that the information they've entered is incorrect.
Things for your customer to check...
- The Invoice Date - Check that the date entered matches the date show on the invoice they received from you/your MIDAS system. Note: This is the date the invoice was 'sent' (the invoice date), and not the date upon which payment is due.
- The Invoice Number - Check that the invoice number has been entered correctly, and that '0' (zero) and 'o' (the letter 'o') haven't been confused.
- Email address - This must match the email address held within your MIDAS system for this client. If the client enters a different email address to the one held if your MIDAS system, MIDAS will be unable to retrieve their invoice.
A mis-matched email address is the most common cause of an "Invoice Not Found" error when a customer attempts to retrieve their invoice online.
If your customers are frequently experiencing this, you can disable the "Client must enter their email address to access their invoice online" setting, which you'll find via MIDAS Admin Options → Manage MIDAS → Invoicing → Online Payments.
With this setting disabled, customers will not be required to enter their email address in order to access their invoices online.
