Why do I have to sign in again when I opted to 'stay signed in'?
MIDAS v4.39 introduced a new "Stay signed in" option. If this option is selected when signing in, then the number of times you'll need to subsequently sign-in again in the future will be reduced.
However, there are some circumstances under which selecting the "Stay signed in" option may not keep you signed into your booking system indefinitely.
This article outlines some of the reasons why you may need to sign-in again, despite having opted to 'stay signed in':
You switch to a different device or browser
The "Stay signed in" option only allows you to remain signed-in on the current browser you're using on the device you're using. If you switch to a different browser or device, you will need to sign-in again.
You are using a private/incognito browser window
All modern browsers offer a way to open a 'private' (or 'incognito') browser window. These special privacy-focused browser windows do not allow data to presist between sessions. This means, that once you close the private/incognito browser window, your signed-in MIDAS session will also end - even if you opted to 'stay signed in'.
Your IP address has changed
If your MIDAS system detects that the IP address you're connecting from is different from the IP address you previously connected from, then for enhanced security, by default your active session will be terminated and you'll need to sign in again.
This security measure can be relaxed by an administrator if required by enabling the "User is on an unstable connection" user setting for your account.
Multi sign-ins are not enabled in your booking system
If the "Allow multiple sign-ins for each user" security setting in your MIDAS system has not been enabled, then you'll only be able to be signed-in from a single browser/device at any one time. Whilst signed-in, if you then attempt to sign-in to your booking system from a second device/browser, your first session will be terminated.
To be able to remain signed in from multiple browsers/devices concurrently, your administrator can enable the "Allow multiple sign-ins for each user" setting via MIDAS Admin Options → Manage MIDAS → Security → Session Control.
Please note however that this setting is only available if your booking system is licensed for more than one user.
Your session has been inactive for an extended period of time
The administrator of your MIDAS booking system may have opted for inactive user sessions to be automatically signed out after a period of inactivity. Administrators have the option of including within this sessions where a user has opted to stay signed in.
You have been signed-in for a long period of time
The administrator of your MIDAS booking system may force sessions to be automatically signed out after a set period of time since the session was first started, regardless of activity. In these instances, whether a user has opted to stay signed in or not is not taken into consideration when expiring sessions.
