Virtual Private Network (VPN)
What is a Virtual Private Network (VPN)?
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) creates a secure, encrypted connection over the internet, used to access a private network from a remote location. A VPN lets users connect securely to another network over the internet - for example, to access the internet from a remote location, or to securely connect to a private network such as a company's internal network from a public place. By encrypting the data being transmitted, a VPN is far more secure than a regular internet connection. What is a VPN used for?
A VPN can be used for a variety of purposes, including:VPNs and MIDAS
A VPN is one way that staff using a self-hosted edition of MIDAS on an intranet can securely reach their booking system while working remotely. By connecting through a VPN, remote staff can access an internal MIDAS installation as though they were in the office.
