ActivePerl

What is ActivePerl?

ActivePerl is a distribution of the Perl programming language from ActiveState.

ActivePerl was first available in the late 1990s and was one of the first commercial distributions of Perl.

It was designed to make it easy to install and use Perl on Windows, which was not as well-supported as other platforms at the time.

Today, ActivePerl is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Solaris, AIX and HP-UX systems.

As well as including a pre-built versions of the Perl interpreter, ActivePerl also includes a number of commonly used Perl modules and extensions.

A number of editions of ActivePerl are available, including a free "Community" edition, and a commercial "Enterprise" edition.

If you wish to download, install, and run a self hosted edition on our MIDAS booking software on a Windows-based web server you could consider ActivePerl.

ActivePerl is one of only a very small number of available solutions for running Perl within a Windows environment. Another option is Strawberry Perl.
