ActivePerl
What is ActivePerl?
ActivePerl is a commercial distribution of the Perl programming language from ActiveState, built to make installing and running Perl easy. First released in the late 1990s, ActivePerl was one of the earliest commercial distributions of Perl. It was created to make Perl easy to install and use on Windows, which at the time was far less well supported than other platforms. Several editions are available, including a free "Community" edition and a commercial "Enterprise" edition. ActivePerl is one of only a small number of solutions for running Perl within a Windows environment. The other main option is Strawberry Perl. What platforms does ActivePerl support?
Today, ActivePerl is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Solaris, AIX, and HP-UX systems. As well as a pre-built Perl interpreter, it bundles many commonly used Perl modules and extensions, so you do not have to install them individually.ActivePerl and MIDAS
If you wish to download, install, and run a self-hosted edition of our MIDAS booking software on a Windows-based web server, ActivePerl is one option for providing the required Perl environment.
