What is CPAN?

CPAN is an acronym for the Comprehensive Perl Archive Network.

It is a repository of currently over 212,000 Perl modules, and has been online since October 1995.

CPAN may be searched via metacpan.org.

CPAN modules are authored and maintained by individual authors, organizations, or groups of individuals.

All CPAN modules are freely available for anyone to use.

The Comprehensive Perl Archive Network contains raw source code for each Perl module, along with documentation, example code, and changelogs.
