How much will it cost to upgrade my license at a later stage?

We're often asked whether there are any cost benefits to initially purchasing a license for a lower number of users/venues than are required and then upgrading your license to the desired amount later vs. purchasing the desired license right from the outset?

Broadly speaking the answer is no; you'll essentially pay the difference between the two license bands when you upgrade.

Take the following simplified illustrative examples:

  1. Assume the one-time cost to purchase a self-hosted MIDAS system with a license for 1 user/10 venues was $600*.
  2. Assume the one-time cost to purchase a self-hosted MIDAS system with a license for 1 user/20 venues was $700* ($100 more than a license for 1 user/10 venues).
  3. The one-time cost to upgrade a self-hosted license for 1 user/10 venues to 1 user/20 venues would be $100 (i.e. the difference between the two license levels above).

* Please note that these are illustrative prices only. As we are a global business, exchange rates - and therefore our pricing - is regularly updated. You can always find our current pricing online.

The cost to upgrade a MIDAS license would be the difference between your current license level and your new desired license level at time of upgrade, not at time of your original purchase.

Taking the previous illustrative example; On the day you purchase a MIDAS booking system, a 1 user/20 venue license is $100 more than a 1 user/10 venue license. If a couple of months later you upgrade from 10 to 20 venues, the cost may be slightly higher or lower than it would have been had you originally purchased a 1 user/20 venues license. This due to fluctuations over time in currency exchange rates.

So in summary the cost to upgrade your license would be the difference between your current and your desired license at the time of upgrade, taking into account currency fluctuations.

Please also note that as the your MIDAS Subscription cost (if applicable) is based on the total users, venues, and databases licensed to your MIDAS. Consequently, after upgrading any of these elements, subsequent subscription renewal fees may be higher.

If you wish to upgrade your license you may do so online at any time via mid.as/upgrade.
