During upgrade to v4, MIDAS says there are duplicate user entries

As part of our proactive approach to security, we made a number of enhancements and changes in this area for version 4 of our scheduling system.

In MIDAS v4, users are now required to login with their email address (their passwords however remain the same).

In earlier versions, users instead logged in with a username together with a password.

Essentially, usernames have now been dropped in favor of email addresses for logging into version 4 of our room and resource scheduling system.

As such, in order to upgrade from a previous version of MIDAS to v4.xx, each existing account needs to have it's own unique individual email address assigned to it. (In earlier versions, you could assign the same email address to more than one user account).

So if during the upgrade process from MIDAS v3 to v4, you see an error similar to this:

Upgrading Users ...
Duplicate entry '[email protected]' for key 'email' (Some Username)
The installer will now exit...

...please login to your MIDAS v3 system, and go to MIDAS Admin Options → Manage Users & Permissions.

On this screen, you'll need to update the affected user accounts to ensure that each one has its own unique email email address assigned to it.

Once you've done this, you can perform the upgrade again, which should then successfully update your MIDAS system to v4!
